Helping Love in Action to Educate Children and Young People
Bursaries
Love in Action is a charity in Uganda offering education to young people in Kasaka and the surrounding villages.
70 staff are employed in Love in Action as Directors, Headteaches, teachers, social workers, boarding staff, cooks, book keepers, admin staff, farm workers, tailor and guards.
The charity is run by four Ugandan directors: Noah, Susan, Margaret and Godfrey.
The charity is funded by:
- The payment of school fees by families to cover some of the school running costs
- Income from our farm which produces many different foods for the school and to sell and achieves a good income from coffee production
- Donations from churches and other organisations
- Fundraising activities
- Individuals who provide regular donations to enable identified students to access school.
Would you consider providing a regular donation to our bursary fund to enable our social workers to allocate your donation to a child in need of support to access school.
Without the support of our donors, many families in the village would not be able to send their children to school. We presently provide additional financial support for over 120 children through primary and secondary school out of a total of 480 students at the school.
Our bursary scheme provides finance to families in need through:
- Paying for school uniform
- Subsidising school fees (at different rates as required)
- Providing breakfast and lunch
- Enabling a child at risk from abuse to board safely at the school
- Provide facilities to a family to enable them to be self supporting (e.g. support to grow better crops on their plot, a chicken to provide eggs and manure)
Although we will not link you to an individual child, your donation will enable these children to attend school and complete their education.
We will provide you with regular updates on the bursary scheme and stories of the children who have benefitted.
Example:
Over the last 12 months
- 60 children have been helped with primary school uniforms
- 20 children have been helped with secondary school uniforms
- 120 children have received bursaries towards their school fees
- 22 children have been enabled to board to keep them free from harm
- 1 family has received intensive medical support for one of their children from our nurses

The children at our schools are very poor, many cannot afford school fees, or uniforms, or even the books to write in.

School Sponsorship
Love in Action currently runs a primary and a secondary school in Masaka, Uganda. The area where our schools are situated is in the forest near Lake Victoria where there are several fishing villages, the families around the schools are very poor and unable to send their children to school. We provide education at a very reduced cost, but even then some children are unable to pay so we try to arrange sponsorship for them.
However all our school places are subsidised by friends and partners so we can make the school affordable for everyone. Please help us by giving regularly, just £10 per month helps us educate these children and young people.
Sponsor a meal at Kasaka Primary School
It is a well documented fact that hungry children find it difficult to concentrate on their lessons at school, they are slower learning and even fall asleep in class.
Many of our children come to school without breakfast, so we give all our children a cup of porridge when they arrive at 7am this helps them concentrate better throughout the day.
We believe that by doing this our children will be healthier and will learn better and it encourages them to arrive on time.
The cost of the ‘breakfast’ for all 300 pupils for a day per month is £15 each month.
